New Construction Radon Mitigation in Rochester, MN
Your builder started it. We help you finish the conversation.
Minnesota has required a basic radon prep in every new home since 2009. That prep is a head start. It is rarely the whole answer in a sealed Minnesota winter. It is one of the most common reasons we hear from homeowners in Byron, Pine Island, Bamber Valley, and the newer Rochester subdivisions.
What the code actually requires
The Minnesota residential code requires every new home to include a basic radon prep under the slab and a vent pipe that runs up through the roof. Builders meet that requirement. What the code does not promise is that the prep alone will bring a Minnesota home under the EPA action level. In a sealed winter, it usually does not.
What the next step looks like
The next step is a conversation about your specific home. Tell us where the home is and what your builder included, and we can talk through what makes sense for the conversation from there. Every home is its own picture.
Subdivisions we know
We have spent time in basements across the major Byron, Pine Island, and southwest Rochester subdivisions. Most of the active builders in the area use one of a few familiar layouts, and recognizing those layouts is a useful head start on the first walk-through.
Cost
Cost depends on what your home actually needs. After a walk-through we can talk through a quote with no follow-up pressure.
Start with a phone call.
Tell us a little about the home and we will tell you what the conversation usually looks like. If you would rather have us test it first, we can set that up too.
